Social media glossary
Plain-English definitions for the terms creators and marketers actually use.
Social media scheduler
A social media scheduler is a tool that lets you compose posts in advance and publishes them automatically to one or more social networks at a chosen time.
Faceless YouTube channel
A faceless YouTube channel is a channel that publishes videos without showing the creator's face, typically using stock footage, AI-generated visuals, screen recordings, or animation paired with voiceover.
Faceless video
A faceless video is a short or long-form video that communicates a message without showing the creator on camera, typically combining stock or AI visuals, captions, and a voiceover.
Short-form video
Short-form video is vertical video content under roughly 90 seconds, optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and similar feeds.
Long-form to short-form clipping
Long-form to short-form clipping is the process of taking a long video — a podcast, livestream, or YouTube video — and automatically extracting the most engaging moments as vertical short-form clips.
Content calendar
A content calendar is a schedule that maps out what content will be posted, on which platforms, and when, usually visualized as a monthly or weekly grid.
Queue scheduling
Queue scheduling is a posting strategy where you define fixed time slots per day and the scheduler automatically fills them from a queue of posts, in order.
UGC video
UGC (user-generated content) video is short-form video content created by everyday people — often creators paid by brands — that looks and feels like an authentic user testimonial rather than a polished ad.
Cross-posting
Cross-posting is publishing the same or platform-adapted content to multiple social networks from a single composer, typically with per-platform tweaks for character limits, hashtags, and aspect ratios.
Engagement rate
Engagement rate is the percentage of an audience that interacts with a post — typically (likes + comments + shares + saves) divided by reach or followers, multiplied by 100.
